Definition of Electrical Risk Assessment
Definition of electrical risk is….. While definition of electrical risk assessment is the process of developing an understanding of a risk. Risk analysis provides input for the risk evaluation process and in making decisions about whether a risk needs to be controlled and choosing the right control strategies and methods. Risk analysis is part of the risk assessment stage in the risk management process and is carried out on risks that have been identified in the risk identification process. The position of risk analysis in the risk management process based on ISO 31000 is as follows. —Omazaki Consultant is a consultant who provides consulting services for register, assessing or assessment, identification, analysis, and evaluation even audit electrical risks in electricity systems or power systems. Basic Knowledge
Basic Definition
- Electrical hazard in term of safety personnel is the term given to anything that has the potential to cause you shock, electrocution, burn, fires, explode and arc that can uses illness and even death.
- Probability is the likelihood of occurrence, from equipment condition, task, etc.
- Risk is a combination of the likelihood of occurrence of injury or damage to health and the severity of injury or damage to health that results from a hazard. Or, isk is the likelihood of a person or worker being harmed (injured/disabled. fatality) or suffering an illness if exposed to a hazard
- Risk = Hazard Analysis + Probability
- Job Hazard (Safety) Analysis: Identifying associated hazards to personnel safety, equipment, and environment.
Electrical Hazards
- Shock
- Electrocution
- Fire
- Arc flash
- Explosion
Type of Electrical Risks
In general, there are two types:
- Risk to operational mainly reliability (equipment safety)
- Risk to people (personnel safety)

Electrical Risk Assessment Process
Meanwhile, a risk register is a document used as a risk management tool and to meet regulatory compliance that acts as a repository for all identified risks and includes additional information about each risk, for example, the nature of the risk, reference and owner, mitigation actions.
Electrical Risk Assessment Steps
- Identify electrical hazards associated with the task and electrical system, or electrical process involved (example: electrocution hazard risk; arc flash hazard risk)
- Identify the electrical work to be performed within the electricity system or process
- Define the possible failure modes which result in exposure to electrical hazards and the potential resultant harm
- Assess the severity of the potential harm or injury from the electrical hazards
- Determine the likelihood of the occurrence for each hazard
- Define the level of risk for the associated hazard
- If the level of risk is not acceptable, identify the additional measures or corrective actions to be taken. Example: wear appropriate PPE and if the risk too high, do not perform the task.
